Day 30

14 Nov

It’s day 30 of the 30-day photo challenge! I did it! I actually posted a picture every day (during the week) the ENTIRE time and if I say so myself, I’m pretty dang proud that I did that 🙂 It feels good to post on a more regular basis and it also helps to get all of your sweet comments about how much you have been enjoying this little challenge. So for the last day, the photo challenge is:

A picture of someone you miss

This is a picture of my Grandpa Hartman (my mom’s step-father) who was the best grandpa any girl could ask for. My grandpa and I had this connection that I hope my children will someday have with my dad. It was like I could do no wrong in his eyes and he was SO proud of every little thing I did. He even kept EVERY, SINGLE seashell I found at the beach  and displayed them above the TV for all to see…all 574 of them! My grandpa knew how much I LOVED to save my money when I was little (I wish that carried on into my older years) so the one time I decided to splurge on a giant teddy bear at the mall (I think it cost 20 dollars), after I had paid, he pulled me to the side so no one else in my family could see a stuck 20 bucks in my pocket and said “shh, don’t tell.”

I wish he was around to see that young woman I’ve become. I know that he’s always around me, and he’s so proud of what I’ve done since he’s passed. Grandpa, if you’re reading this…I think about you more often than you will ever know and you were the BEST grandpa in the whole world. I promise to live the rest of my life the way you did; laughing the whole way through it. I love you Grandpa Hartman and I hope you and Grandma are having a grand ol’ time up there!

Day 29

11 Nov

Happy Veteran’s Day to all my people in America! I’m so thankful for the men and women who put their lives on hold to fight for our country and make sure we can maintain all of our American values. Also, happy happy Friday to all of you! I hope you all have something fun planned for the weekend and are preparing yourselves for Thanksgiving! Joachim and I will be having our Thanksgiving dinner NEXT Sunday and I’m getting a bit nervous about having all the ingredients to make what I want. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it turns out…

Moving on to today’s photo challenge:

A picture that can always make you smile

This picture makes me smile for a number of reasons…one, it was taken on my sister’s wedding day, which was SO much fun and such a happy day. The second, is because I am so thankful that I actually have a picture of my three best friends all together! Maggie (second from right) was in Colorado for Lindsay’s wedding and it was nice to be able to hang out with both my Colorado best friends and my best friend from STL all at the same time. I am really really hoping that Maggie figures out a way to move out to Colorado so we can all be together again 🙂

Hope you all enjoy your weekends!! See you on Monday 🙂

Day 28

10 Nov

Is there something in your life that you’re afraid of? Like, not just something you don’t like, but something that makes you look like an absolute crazy person running around, screaming and making a fool out of yourself when you see it? Well today’s photo challenge is definitely something that does that to me…

A picture of something you’re afraid of

I can barely look at this darn picture without getting creeped out. My whole family (and Joachim) can attest to the fact that when there is a spider in sight, I can not be in the same room until I know that thing is successfully flushed down the toilet. Actually, all insects of that matter pretty much do this to me. We have this darn tree RIGHT outside our balcony door that sprouts flowers in the summer time and I swear we had a least two bees fly into our apartment every day this summer. Poor Joachim had to put up with my shrieking at the sight of one and even with his calming words, I could not stand to be close to one. So the moral of the story is, Hadley is one big scaredy-cat and acts like a 2-year-old who sees Santa Claus for the first time at the mall and throws a big fit. Love it or leave it, people.

Day 27

9 Nov

It’s Wednesday and you all know what that means…it’s HUMP day! Feels good that we are halfway to the weekend, which means you should all be in wonderful moods today, right? Today’s photo challenge is:

A picture of yourself and a family member

Isn’t my grandma beautiful? Okay, I may be a little biased BUT she’s one great looking 88-year-old if you ask me! My grandma is the typical sweet, lovable, tells all her friends about you kind of grandma and I’m so glad that she’s still around. Unfortunately she’s the last of my grandparents that is still in my life so I plan to soak in as much time with her that I can. My grandma lives about 40 minutes south of where my family lives in Colorado and can always tell you the exact day and time that you were last at her house. You see, since I can remember (and my dad as well) my grandma has had this thing about remembering everything, thus she writes it in a little book so she can reference it in case some question ever arises about who was where and when. I adore her little quirks and can’t wait to see her for Christmas! Love you Grandma!!

Day 26

8 Nov

Hej allihoppa!

You know those days when you just feel like nothing is going your way? When you feel discouraged about every little thing and can’t think of a positive way to figure things out? I definitely had one of “those” days yesterday and you know what? All it took was a 30-minute phone call with my daddy to make me realize that everything is going to be okay. Which leads me to today’s photo challenge:

A picture of something that means a lot to you

I think this is the number one underlying factor that creates a good relationship. Whether it’s romantic or friendly, a great relationship is always built on trust. Trusting that other person with things you may never tell someone else, trusting that they won’t tell anyone else, trusting that they will come to you in a time of need, trusting that they know the right thing to say or do to help you figure out what’s going on in your life. Is there someone in your life you who can always trust to get you through whatever you need to get through? I am so thankful that I not only have one person in my life that I can count on, but many. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t trust just anyone and it does take some time for me to trust someone, but once I do I feel so lucky to be able to add to my list of trustees.

Day 25

7 Nov

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend and remembered to set your clocks back (even though we did that here LAST weekend). I have ONE full week (plus one day next week) left of this photo challenge and I have to say that I’m very proud of myself that I haven’t missed a day 🙂 Today’s photo challenge is:

 A picture of your day

Since a good part of my day is spent here, I decided this would be the most fitting picture to upload. There’s not much more to say about this because I know it isn’t that exciting but I hope some day the picture of “my day” will be something inspiring and life-changing because I feel like that is my purpose in this world. I guess you’ll just have to keep following my blog to see if this picture evolves over time… dun dun dun.

Day 24

4 Nov

A picture of something you wish you could change

I wish I could move that blue country closer to that purple country so my American friends and family would be able to have a relationship with my Swedish friends and family. ALSO, I would like the two countries to be closer so the plane ride back and forth doesn’t take 20 hours! Especially coming from a girl who is afraid of flying. Free alcohol on international flights is a savior.
